Single Source of Truth

We are currently working toward a single source of truth for all meeting statistics. During this time you may notice small changes/differences in your numbers as they are brought into line.

“There are three types of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics!”

Benjamin Disraeli

Statistics can be calculated in many different ways depending on what they are to be used for. In the case of your meeting statistics,  and the various charts and graphs which are built on them, we get slightly different numbers depending on whether we average things like feedback over number of meetings or over meeting time; and whether we calculate period averages from daily averages, or from the original meeting data.
In reality, these differences are small and will make little difference to your improvement choices. However, seeing slightly different values in different places can introduce questions over the integrity of the data – and that is unhelpful. We want you to have full confidence in the numbers you see, and over the next few weeks we will be working to ensure that your numbers are not only accurate, but are consistent too.
To this end, we are building one central repository of daily data, and we are changing our calculations to reflect this (this will be based on meeting time rather than number of meetings). The changes will take a little time – each change can impact upward of a million records – and you may see small shifts in your numbers as a result.
However, please be aware that where you do see differences or changes in your numbers, the numbers are still accurate (just calculated differently) and each little shift in your numbers is another step toward having consistent numbers throughout the site.
Thank you for your patience.
